The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 152A-0100 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding metalworking applications. Part of the T-A series, this insert measures 1 inch in diameter and seats in a size 2 holder. It features a 132-degree point angle and a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) PVD coating that improves heat resistance and extends tool life under high cutting speeds. At 0.1875 inches thick and weighing 0.1 pounds, the insert is precision-ground for consistent seating and repeatable performance. It is installed by machinists and tooling specialists in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium. The T-A spade drill system is widely used in CNC machining centers, lathes, and drill presses where indexable tooling reduces downtime compared to brazed or solid-carbide alternatives. The TiAlN coating makes this insert a practical choice when cutting heat-resistant alloys or running higher surface footage in ferrous materials. It is a direct drop-in for any compatible size 2 T-A series spade drill holder.
Designed for use with T-A series size 2 spade drill holders. Compatible with primary workpiece materials classified as steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), and super-alloys and titanium (S) per ISO material group codes.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. De-energize and lock out the machine before inserting or replacing the spade drill insert. Inspect the holder seat for chips, burrs, or debris before seating the insert, and ensure the clamping screw is torqued according to the holder manufacturer's specifications. Follow applicable shop safety standards and machine tool operating procedures when returning the spindle to service.
