The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 151T-.765 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Built to T-A series specifications, this fractional-inch insert measures 49/64 inches in diameter and features a 132-degree point angle optimized for entry geometry and chip control. The insert is manufactured from T15-grade cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a PVD-applied TiN (titanium nitride) coating that reduces friction and extends cutting life. At 0.1563 inches thick, the insert seats into a Size 1 holder with a secure, repeatable fit. It is installed by machinists, toolroom technicians, and production drilling operators working with high-volume or precision drilling setups.
This insert is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium — workpiece material codes P, M, K, and S. The T-A series spade drill system is commonly used in production machining environments where replaceable inserts reduce downtime compared to regrinding solid tooling. Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling in structural steel fabrication, aerospace component machining, and heavy equipment manufacturing where consistent hole geometry and extended tool life are priorities.
Designed for use with T-A series spade drill bodies accepting a Size 1 seat insert. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium as indicated by material codes P, M, K, and S.
Installation and changeout of spade drill inserts is performed by qualified machinists following machine shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before removing or seating the insert. Use the appropriate insert screw and torque driver specified for the T-A series holder to achieve proper clamping without over-tightening. Inspect the pocket seat for chips or damage before installing a new insert to ensure accurate seating and safe cutting performance.
