The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 151T-.703 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding machining applications. Sized at 45/64 inches in diameter with a Seat Size 1 and a 132-degree point angle, this insert fits the T-A series spade drill system. The insert is manufactured from T15 cobalt material grade and features a TiN (titanium nitride) PVD coating that extends tool life and reduces friction during cutting. It is installed by machinists and toolroom professionals on CNC machining centers, lathes, and drilling machines where replaceable insert tooling is preferred over solid drills.
This insert is suited for production and job-shop drilling operations across a range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and super-alloys and titanium. The T-A series platform is a common choice for through-hole and blind-hole applications in both light and heavy manufacturing environments. The 132-degree point angle is well matched to harder ferrous and exotic alloy materials where a steeper point geometry aids in chip formation and heat management.
Designed for use with T-A series Seat Size 1 spade drill holders. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and super-alloys and titanium as designated by material codes P, M, K, and S.
Installation and replacement of spade drill inserts should be performed by qualified machinists with the machine powered down and the spindle locked or tagged out per applicable lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct insert screw and torque driver specified for the T-A series holder to secure the insert without distorting the seat. Inspect the holder seat for chips or burrs before seating a new insert, as debris will affect runout and hole quality. Do not use damaged or worn holder seats, as proper insert seating is critical to dimensional accuracy and tool life.
