The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 151N-0029 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in metalworking and machining applications. Part of the T-A Series, this insert measures 29/32 inches in diameter and features a 132-degree point angle for aggressive, accurate cutting geometry. A TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) PVD coating reduces friction and extends tool life in demanding cutting conditions. At 0.1563 inches thick and weighing approximately 0.1 pounds, the insert is engineered for precision fitment in Seat Size 1 T-A Series holders. It is suited for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals.
This insert is rated for use across a broad range of primary workpiece materials, including Steel (P), Stainless Steel (M), Cast Iron (K), and Super-alloys and Titanium (S). These ISO material classifications make the 151N-0029 a versatile option in shops that run mixed-material production. Typical installation scenarios include production drilling on lathes and machining centers where consistent hole quality and tool longevity are critical priorities. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling setup technicians. Before changing the insert, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped, locked out, and all power is isolated per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert flush against the holder pocket and torque the clamping screw to the holder manufacturer's specification using the correct Torx or hex key — do not over-torque, as this can distort the insert seat. Inspect the holder seat for chips, burrs, or wear before seating a new insert.
