The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 150T-.546 is a spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. This insert measures 35/64 inches in diameter and features a 132-degree point angle, a cobalt substrate, and a TiN (titanium nitride) PVD coating. The cobalt construction provides elevated heat and wear resistance compared to standard high-speed steel, while the TiN coating reduces friction and extends tool life. Seat Size 0 places this insert in the T-A series indexable spade drill system. It is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC and manual drilling operations across a range of ferrous and exotic workpiece materials.
This insert is suited for production and job-shop drilling in both horizontal and vertical machining centers, as well as in manual drill presses with appropriate toolholding. Its cobalt base and PVD TiN coating make it particularly effective when cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium. The T-A series system uses a dedicated blade holder, so this insert pairs with a compatible Seat Size 0 T-A spade drill holder. It is appropriate for both through-hole and blind-hole drilling applications in a shop environment.
Designed for use with T-A series Seat Size 0 indexable spade drill holders. Compatible primary workpiece materials include Steel, Stainless Steel, Cast Iron, Super-alloys, and Titanium as specified in the product data.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Before changing inserts, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped, locked out, and all power is off per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert fully and evenly in the holder pocket before tightening the clamping screw to the holder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the holder seat for chips or debris before each insert change to ensure proper seating and prevent premature insert failure.
