The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 150T-16 is a spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding metalworking applications. Built from T15 cobalt material grade and finished with a PVD-applied TiN coating, this insert delivers extended wear resistance and thermal stability under aggressive cutting conditions. It features a 132-degree point angle optimized for chip control and accurate entry on flat and angled surfaces. At 0.125 inches thick and sized to Seat Size 0 of the T-A series holder system, it integrates directly with compatible T-A series spade drill bodies. Licensed machinists and tooling specialists install this insert in CNC machining centers and manual drill press setups.
This insert is suited for drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium workpieces. It falls under the ISO workpiece material classifications P, M, K, and S, making it a versatile choice across ferrous and exotic alloy applications in industrial, aerospace, and general machining environments. The T-A series system is a common platform in production shops running high-volume drilling operations where insert changeout speed and repeatability are priorities.
Designed for use with ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING T-A series spade drill bodies accepting Seat Size 0 inserts. Confirm holder seat size and series designation before installation to ensure proper seating and clamping force.
Insert changeout should be performed with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the correct T-A series insert screw and a calibrated torque driver as specified by the holder manufacturer to avoid over-torque and seat damage. Inspect the holder seat for chips or debris before seating the new insert. This work is typically performed by a machinist or tooling technician in accordance with the shop's tool management procedures.
