The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 150N-.640 is a spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. With a 41/64-inch diameter and a 132-degree point angle, this insert is engineered for precise entry and efficient chip evacuation. It is manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN (Titanium Carbonitride) PVD coating, which increases surface hardness and extends tool life under elevated cutting temperatures. The insert measures 0.125 inches in thickness and fits a Seat Size 0 T-A series holder. It is installed by machinists and tool-room technicians working on manual or CNC drilling operations.
This insert is suited for drilling operations in manufacturing and machining environments where tough workpiece materials are common. It is compatible with primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium. The T-A series spade drill system is widely used in production drilling where replaceable inserts reduce tooling downtime compared to solid drill replacement. Typical applications include job shops, aerospace component machining, and general metalworking operations requiring consistent hole quality across hard or abrasive materials.
Designed for use with T-A series Seat Size 0 spade drill holders. Compatible with primary workpiece materials designated P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), and S (super-alloys and titanium) per ISO material classification.
Spade drill inserts should be installed by qualified machinists with the spindle stopped and machine power locked out before any insert change. Use the appropriate T-A series torx or hex key to secure the insert to the holder seat, ensuring full seating contact with no gap between the insert and pocket. Inspect the holder pocket for wear or debris before installing a new insert. Follow the tooling manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures for cutting tool changes.
