The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 150A-.578 is a spade drill insert engineered for high-performance hole-making in demanding machining applications. Measuring 37/64 inches in diameter with a 132-degree point angle and a 0.125-inch thickness, this insert is manufactured from cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) PVD coating. The TiAlN coating improves heat resistance and wear life compared to uncoated inserts, making this tool suitable for aggressive feed rates and challenging workpiece materials. It fits Seat Size 0 holders in the T-A Series spade drill system and is sold as a single insert.
This insert is intended for use in T-A Series Seat Size 0 spade drill holders on CNC machining centers, lathes, and drilling machines in production and job-shop environments. It is suited for through-hole and blind-hole drilling operations where consistent diameter and surface finish are required. Licensed machinists, tooling technicians, and CNC operators working in metalworking facilities are the primary installers and users of this insert.
Designed for use with T-A Series Seat Size 0 spade drill holders. Rated for primary workpiece material codes P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), and S (super-alloys and titanium) per ISO material classification.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the holder manufacturer's torque and clamping procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before installing a new insert, as a contaminated seat can cause insert rocking and premature failure. Always verify runout and diameter after the first test hole when replacing an insert.
