The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 150A-0021 is a cobalt spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Manufactured in the T-A series with a Seat Size 0 designation, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) PVD coating applied for improved wear resistance and heat tolerance. At 0.125 inches thick and weighing approximately 0.1 pounds, it is a compact, single-edge cutting insert intended for use in compatible T-A spade drill holders. Machinists and tool-room technicians working with production drilling operations are the primary installers and users of this insert.
This insert is suited for drilling operations across a range of primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium — corresponding to ISO material classifications P, M, K, and S. It is appropriate for both job-shop and production environments where consistent hole geometry and extended tool life are priorities. The 21/32-inch diameter and Seat Size 0 designation make it specific to compatible T-A series spade drill bodies designed to accept that seat configuration.
Designed for use with T-A series Seat Size 0 spade drill holders. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, super-alloys, and titanium (ISO classifications P, M, K, and S).
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians using the appropriate T-A series spade drill holder for Seat Size 0. Always de-energize and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Inspect the holder pocket for chips or wear before installation to ensure proper insert contact and torque retention. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING holder specifications for screw torque and coolant delivery setup.
