The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 131T-.765 is a spade drill insert engineered for precision hole-making in demanding industrial and manufacturing environments. This insert measures 49/64 inches in diameter and seats in a Size 1 holder. It is manufactured from M4 high speed steel and finished with a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) titanium nitride (TiN) coating, which extends cutting edge life by reducing heat buildup and friction. The 132-degree point angle makes it well-suited for flat-bottomed entry and controlled chip formation. It belongs to the T-A Series, a widely recognized interchangeable spade drill platform. Machinists and tooling specialists working in production or job-shop settings are the primary users.
This insert is designed for drilling into steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals, covering ISO workpiece material codes P, K, and N. The T-A Series platform is commonly used in CNC machining centers, lathes, and drill presses where high-volume hole production demands consistent tool geometry. The TiN coating improves wear resistance when cutting ferrous materials at moderate to high cutting speeds, making this insert a practical choice for production runs where tool life and hole quality are priorities.
Designed for use with T-A Series Size 1 spade drill holders as part of the Allied Machine and Engineering T-A interchangeable spade drill system.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and spindle locked. Use the appropriate insert seating tool or torque wrench recommended for T-A Series holders to secure the insert properly. Inspect the holder pocket for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for speeds, feeds, and coolant application specific to the workpiece material.
