The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 131T-0030 is a spade drill insert designed for high-productivity hole-making operations in metalworking and machining applications. It measures 15/16 inches in diameter and seats into a Seat Size 1 holder. The insert is manufactured from M4 grade High Speed Steel and features a TiN (Titanium Nitride) PVD coating that extends tool life by reducing heat buildup and friction at the cutting edge. The 132-degree point angle provides aggressive chip formation suited to through-hole and blind-hole drilling in a range of workpiece materials. This insert belongs to the T-A series platform from Allied Machine and Engineering.
This insert is suited for use in production drilling environments where interchangeable spade drill bodies are already in service. Compatible workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals. Typical applications include job shops, manufacturing facilities, and industrial maintenance operations requiring repeatable hole diameters with consistent tool geometry. The T-A series design allows quick insert changes without removing the drill body from the spindle, reducing changeover time on CNC machining centers, lathes, and drill presses.
Designed for use with T-A series Seat Size 1 spade drill bodies. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous metals as indicated by material codes P, K, and N.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Seat surfaces on the drill body should be clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert. Secure the insert with the appropriate torque driver or wrench as specified by the drill body manufacturer. Inspect the insert and seat for wear or damage before each use to maintain hole quality and prevent insert failure.
