The 130-degree point angle provides a balanced cutting geometry suited for through-hole and blind-hole applications. With a diameter of 4.5 inches, a height of 3.375 inches, and a thickness of 0.625 inches, this insert seats into a Series G holder. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job shop environments.
This spade drill insert is intended for use in industrial drilling operations where large-diameter holes are required without the cost of a solid drill. The uncoated CPM-M4 construction makes it well suited for steel and cast iron applications where regrinding and reconditioning are common practices. It fits Series G spade drill holders and is appropriate for use on CNC machining centers, radial arm drills, and manual boring mills where rigidity and proper coolant delivery are maintained. The package contains one insert.

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Before inserting or removing the spade drill insert, confirm the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert fully into the Series G holder and torque the clamping screws to the holder manufacturer's specification — do not estimate clamp torque by feel on a large-diameter insert. Verify runout at the cutting edge with a dial indicator before initiating a cut, and ensure adequate coolant flow to the cutting zone to prevent premature edge wear.
