The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING J1926-02-C5A is a Grade C5A carbide porting insert designed for precision port machining and thread-form sealing applications. Finished with a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) coating, this insert delivers improved hardness and oxidation resistance at elevated cutting temperatures. The J1926 insert style conforms to the SAE J-1926 standard for straight thread port and tube fitting seats. It is sized to the 1926 insert size code and is intended for use by machinists and tooling specialists working with hydraulic, pneumatic, and fluid-power component manufacturing. The coated carbide substrate extends tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials.
This insert is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups H, K, N, and P. That range includes cast iron, nonferrous metals, aluminum alloys, and steel, making it a versatile option for job shops and production environments where a single insert grade must handle varied part materials. Typical applications include porting of hydraulic manifolds, valve bodies, cylinder heads, and fluid-power housings where SAE J-1926 or ISO 11926-1 port geometry is required. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of one.
Designed for use with toolholders and porting tool systems that accept the J1926 insert style and 1926 size code per SAE J-1926 and ISO 11926-1 specifications. Verify toolholder compatibility against the insert size code before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with indexable insert tooling systems. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to achieve proper clamping torque - do not overtighten or use impact tools on insert screws. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure full, flat contact and accurate edge geometry.
