The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 4C21P-.796 is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and machining applications. Measuring 51/64 inches in diameter and engineered to Seat Size 1, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and is manufactured to the C2 (K20) material grade. It carries an AM300 PVD coating applied through physical vapor deposition, delivering enhanced wear resistance and heat management at the cutting edge. The GEN2 T-A series design is built for precision boring where tool life and cut quality are critical. Machinists and tooling specialists install this insert into compatible T-A spade drill holders on CNC or manual machining equipment.
This insert is suited for drilling stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and super-alloys including titanium. Those material capabilities make it a practical choice across aerospace, heavy manufacturing, mold and die, and general metalworking operations. It is a single-piece replaceable insert, allowing the drill body to be reused while only the cutting element is swapped when worn. The compact geometry and solid carbide construction support tight-tolerance hole-making in difficult-to-machine workpiece materials without the flex or deflection associated with brazed or indexable alternatives.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for GEN2 T-A series spade drill holders accepting Seat Size 1 inserts at 51/64 inch diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and locked out before seating or removing any drill insert. Inspect the holder seat for chips, debris, or wear before installing a new insert, as seat damage will affect runout and hole quality. Follow the tool holder manufacturer torque guidance for the retaining screw and verify insert seating before returning the tool to service.
