The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 1C51A-.765 is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in steel and hard materials. Part of the T-A series, this insert features a 132-degree point angle and a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) PVD coating that improves heat resistance and extends tool life in demanding cutting conditions. The insert seats into a Seat Size 1 T-A series holder. At 0.1563 inches thick and 49/64 inch diameter, it delivers precise, repeatable cutting geometry suited to production drilling operations. Machinists and tooling specialists in metalworking environments are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is intended for drilling steel and hard materials in production machining environments. The T-A spade drill system is widely used in CNC machining centers, lathes with live tooling, and dedicated drilling machines where replaceable insert tooling reduces downtime compared to solid-drill rework. The TiAlN coating makes it well-suited for dry or minimal-lubrication cutting strategies at elevated spindle speeds. It is compatible with any Seat Size 1 T-A series spade drill holder from Allied Machine and Engineering.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the holder is removed from the spindle or the machine is powered down and locked out before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully and evenly against the holder pocket faces and secure with the retaining screw to the holder manufacturer's specified procedure. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before installation, as contamination in the pocket affects runout and can cause premature insert failure.
