The ALLIED MACHINE AND ENGINEERING 1C22T-0102-FB is a solid carbide spade drill insert designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding materials. Part of the T-A Series, this insert measures 1-1/16 inches in diameter and features a 180-degree point angle with a PVD-applied TiN coating. The C2 (K20) carbide grade delivers wear resistance and toughness suited for interrupted cuts and hard workpieces. At 0.03 pounds, the insert fits Seat Size 2 T-A Series spade drill holders and is a direct consumable replacement for production drilling operations. Licensed machinists and tooling specialists working in job shops, aerospace facilities, or heavy manufacturing environments are the primary installers and users.
This insert is rated for use in stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, and super-alloys including titanium — material codes M, K, N, and S respectively. These material classes cover a wide range of production drilling scenarios including aerospace structural components, pump housings, valve bodies, and precision machined parts where hole quality and tool life are critical. The T-A Series spade drill system is a modular design, allowing this insert to be swapped into compatible Seat Size 2 holders without replacing the entire tool body, reducing tooling cost per hole.
Designed for use with T-A Series Seat Size 2 spade drill holders. Compatible workpiece materials include stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), non-ferrous metals (N), and super-alloys and titanium (S) per standard material classification codes.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool holder secured in a vise or tool block before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate T-A Series insert seating wrench or hex key to achieve proper clamping torque per the holder manufacturer guidelines — do not over-torque or use impact tools. Inspect the insert seat for chips, debris, or wear before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and runout.
