The ALLEGRO 9248-01 is a Supplied Air Respirator (SAR) welding helmet designed for professional welders who require both eye and respiratory protection in a single system. The helmet integrates an auto-darkening welding lens with a shade range of 9 to 13 and connects to a breathing air supply delivered by a 3/4 HP or 1-1/2 HP air pump via a 50-foot breathing hose. Manual adjustment controls allow the wearer to fine-tune fit for universal sizing. It meets ANSI standards and is built for demanding industrial and fabrication environments where fume and arc exposure are simultaneous hazards.
This helmet is used in environments where both arc welding operations and airborne contaminants require combined protection. Typical applications include structural welding, heavy fabrication, shipbuilding, and industrial maintenance where confined spaces or poor ventilation make a standard respirator inadequate. The SAR system supplies clean breathing air from a remote pump source, keeping the welder protected without relying on ambient air quality. The universal sizing makes it suitable for a broad range of workers across job sites. Licensed welders and industrial hygiene contractors are the primary installers and users of this equipment.
Designed for use with SAR breathing air systems, compatible with 3/4 HP and 1-1/2 HP breathing air pumps and 50-foot SAR breathing hoses as supplied in the kit configuration.
Installation and commissioning of SAR welding helmets should be performed by a qualified safety professional or industrial hygienist familiar with OSHA respiratory protection requirements and applicable ANSI Z87.1 standards. Before connecting or adjusting the breathing air supply, verify that the air source delivers Grade D breathing air at the correct pressure and flow rate for the number of users. Inspect all hose connections for leaks before each use and ensure the air pump is positioned in a clean-air zone away from welding fumes and combustible gases. Do not attempt to substitute compressed gas cylinders for the breathing air pump unless the system is specifically rated and configured for that use.
