The ALL-SOURCE 019054 is an all-purpose purple primer formulated for use on PVC and CPVC pipe and fittings. It works by removing gloss, softening the surface, and penetrating the bonding area to prepare joints for solvent cement. This primer is especially effective on high-gloss, hard finish bell end pipe and fittings where surface preparation is critical to achieving a strong, leak-free bond. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters rely on this type of primer as a required step before cementing in code-compliant installations. The 019054 meets ASTM F-656 standards and carries NSF certification with UPC listing.
This primer is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications where PVC or CPVC pipe and fittings are joined using solvent cement. It is commonly used in drain, waste, and vent systems as well as cold and hot water supply lines using CPVC. The purple color provides a visible indicator that primer has been applied, which is required by many local codes and inspectors to confirm proper joint preparation before cement is applied.
Designed as an OEM-style preparation product for use with PVC and CPVC pipe and fittings in standard plumbing and piping installations.
This primer is installed by licensed plumbers working with PVC or CPVC solvent-weld systems. Apply primer to both the pipe end and the fitting socket before applying solvent cement, following the instructions on the cement container and applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Work in a well-ventilated area, as primer contains solvents that produce flammable vapors. Allow primer to become tacky before applying cement, and do not use primer as a substitute for solvent cement.
