The ALCOA FASTENING SYSTEMS 392.6 is a one-bolt parallel groove clamp used to make parallel tap or splice connections in overhead and utility conductor installations. Constructed from aluminum, the clamp accommodates both aluminum (AL) and aluminum conductor steel-reinforced (ACSR) conductors. It handles run conductors ranging from 3/0 STR up to 400 MCM for aluminum and from 3/0 STR up to 397.1 ACSR. The parallel groove, single-bolt design provides a reliable mechanical connection that is straightforward to install in the field. Utility lineworkers and electrical contractors working on distribution and service entrance wiring are the primary installers.
This clamp is suited for overhead distribution line work, service conductor taps, and parallel splicing applications where aluminum or ACSR conductors are used. It is appropriate for both residential service drops and light commercial or utility feeder taps where conductor diameters fall within the 0.464 inch to 0.743 inch range. The one-bolt configuration reduces installation time while maintaining a solid mechanical grip across the accepted conductor range.
Designed for use with aluminum (AL) and aluminum conductor steel-reinforced (ACSR) conductors in the 3/0 STR to 400 MCM range, with ACSR compatibility up to 397.1 ACSR and conductor diameters from 0.464 inches to 0.743 inches.
Installation is performed by qualified utility lineworkers or licensed electricians in accordance with applicable NESC and NEC requirements. De-energize and properly isolate all conductors before installing or adjusting the clamp. Use the appropriate torque wrench and hardware specified for aluminum parallel groove clamps to avoid under- or over-tightening the single bolt. Inspect conductor surfaces and remove oxidation prior to assembly to ensure a reliable electrical and mechanical connection.
