The Alarm Controls Corporation PBM-2 is a momentary panic button featuring two normally open (N/O) contacts. It is designed for use in access control and life-safety systems where a manual, momentary signal is required to trigger a door release, alarm, or egress function. The PBM-2 provides a reliable hardwired switching mechanism suited for low-voltage control circuits. Licensed electricians and security system technicians are the primary installers of this device in both commercial and institutional applications.
The PBM-2 is used in exit device and push-button applications where a momentary contact closure is needed to activate a latch retraction, magnetic lock release, or alarm panel input. It is appropriate for interior doors, vestibule entry points, and emergency egress stations in commercial buildings, schools, and healthcare facilities. The dual N/O contact configuration allows it to serve redundant or parallel circuit arrangements in a single installation point.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation component for low-voltage access control and exit device systems requiring a momentary N/O panic or request-to-exit push button.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician or credentialed security technician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements for low-voltage control wiring. De-energize the access control panel or alarm circuit before making any wiring connections. Verify contact ratings of the connected panel or controller do not exceed the rated switching capacity of the PBM-2 before commissioning. Mounting location should comply with ADA and local accessibility codes where applicable.
