The AIREX ta20202 is a 20 x 20 x 2 inch disposable fiberglass panel air filter designed for residential and light commercial HVAC and air conditioning applications. It uses Polystrand fiberglass media, a continuous-strand fiber measuring more than 3.5 microns in diameter, making it nonrespirable and safer than standard glass fibers. The media is encapsulated in a protective polymer layer, then loosely spun on the air-entering side and progressively woven tighter on the air-exiting side. This graduated construction increases dust holding capacity, rated at 195 grams, and prevents surface loading. A heavy-duty moisture-resistant white Kraft board frame holds its shape under normal airflow conditions. Licensed HVAC technicians and qualified service pros install this filter as part of routine preventive maintenance.
The ta20202 is suited for forced-air systems in residential homes and light commercial spaces where a low-cost, high-loft disposable filter is required. It is rated for air conditioning unit installations and handles flow rates from 850 to 1,350 CFM at a resistance of 0.5 PA. With a MERV-equivalent rating of 4 to 5, it captures larger airborne particles including lint, dust, and debris to protect system components. It performs continuously at temperatures up to 180 degrees F and intermittently up to 200 degrees F, making it compatible with standard forced-air heating and cooling equipment.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement panel filter for residential and light commercial air conditioning and forced-air HVAC systems requiring a 20 x 20 x 2 inch disposable fiberglass filter.
Installation is performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified service professional. Always shut down the air handler or furnace and set the thermostat to the off position before removing the old filter. Confirm the airflow direction arrow on the frame aligns with the direction of air movement into the system before seating the filter. Dispose of the used filter in accordance with local waste handling requirements and inspect the filter rack for damage before reinstalling.
