The AIR FLOW PRODUCTS MTD0806 is a metal duct conical spin-in takeoff fitting with an integrated damper, designed for use in sheet metal duct systems. This type of fitting connects branch runs to a main rectangular or round trunk duct, allowing a technician to tap into the main duct and direct conditioned air to a branch line. The conical spin-in design seats firmly into a punched or cut hole in the trunk, creating a secure, low-leak connection. The built-in damper allows airflow balancing at the takeoff point without a separate balancing component.
This fitting is used in residential and light commercial forced-air HVAC systems where branch duct runs are connected to a main supply trunk. The 8-inch trunk collar mates to an 8-inch trunk opening, while the 6-inch outlet serves a 6-inch branch duct. It is suitable for new construction duct fabrication and retrofit duct modifications. Sheet metal workers and HVAC installers use this fitting during duct system layout and assembly to distribute supply air from the main trunk to individual room or zone branches.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for residential and light commercial sheet metal supply duct systems using conical spin-in takeoff connections.
Installation is performed by licensed or qualified HVAC sheet metal technicians. Power down the air handling unit and close the system before cutting into the trunk duct. The conical collar spins and locks into a field-cut or knockout hole in the trunk duct wall; secure per local mechanical code requirements. Verify airflow balance using the integrated damper after system startup and commissioning.
