The ACORN S-WM14314G250 is a winged self-drilling screw engineered for fastening wood to steel or aluminum without predrilling. Manufactured from C1022 steel with case hardening, this 3-1/4 inch screw features reamer wings that bore through wood and snap off cleanly upon contact with metal. The number 3 drill point penetrates up to 1/4 inch of metal. A shank slot captures steel shavings and improves drilling action throughout the fastening process. The flat head star drive configuration reduces cam-out, handles greater torque than Phillips or square drive, and eliminates spinning and fastener damage. All screws carry a dacro coating rated for 1,000 hours of salt spray resistance. Sold in a pack of 250 pieces.
This screw is suited for applications where structural wood members must be secured directly to steel or aluminum framing. Typical install scenarios include trailer beds, trailer walls, and similar metal-framed assemblies where a combined wood-to-metal connection is required. The self-drilling tip eliminates the need for pilot holes in the metal substrate, reducing labor time on production or field installations. A T30 star drive bit is required for installation and is not included with the pack.
Designed for fastening wood to steel or aluminum substrates, including trailer bed and wall construction and similar metal-framed assemblies requiring a wood-to-metal connection.
Installation is performed with a T30 star drive bit, which is not included. Ensure all fastening equipment is powered down and the workpiece is secured before driving screws. Do not substitute a Phillips or square drive bit, as this will damage the fastener head and reduce holding performance. Follow applicable structural and trailer-industry fastening guidelines for spacing and torque.
