The ACCUPRO T2634565 is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting 1/2-13 unified coarse internal threads in steel workpieces. It features a modified bottoming chamfer, which allows threading closer to the bottom of a blind hole than a standard plug tap while still providing enough lead-in for reliable thread engagement. The tap is manufactured from 3% vanadium high speed steel (HSS) for increased wear resistance and edge retention compared to standard M2 HSS. With a 33-degree helix angle and right-hand spiral flute geometry, it efficiently evacuates chips upward out of the hole during tapping operations. This tap suits machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians working in steel.
This tap is intended for use in steel applications requiring a 2B class of fit, which is the standard tolerance for most general-purpose threaded fastener applications. The modified bottoming chamfer makes it well suited for blind-hole tapping where thread depth close to the hole bottom is required. It carries an H5 thread limit, indicating a controlled oversize tolerance for use with standard 2B fits. The bright, uncoated finish is appropriate for steel tapping with cutting fluid or tapping compound applied at the point of use.
Designed for tapping 1/2-13 UNC threads in steel workpieces. Suitable for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and hand tapping setups where a 2B class of fit is specified.
This tap is installed and operated by machinists or maintenance technicians using a tap wrench, tapping head, or CNC rigid tapping cycle. Always apply a suitable cutting oil or tapping compound to the tap and workpiece before beginning the threading operation. Ensure the tap is aligned perpendicular to the workpiece surface to prevent tap breakage and thread distortion. Secure the workpiece firmly before tapping and never force the tap against resistance.
