The ACCUPRO T2634522B is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting 7/16-14 unified coarse internal threads in a variety of workpiece materials. Built from 3% vanadium high speed steel, this tap offers improved wear resistance and edge retention compared to standard M2 HSS tooling. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of blind holes without the longer lead of a plug tap. With 3 right-hand spiral flutes at a 33-degree helix angle, the tool actively lifts chips up and out of the hole during the cut. Overall length is 3.1563 inches. This tap is suited for machinists, tool-and-die makers, and production shop technicians working on manual or CNC tapping operations.
The T2634522B is used in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where controlled chip evacuation is critical, particularly in blind-hole applications. The spiral flute design makes it well suited for ductile materials such as aluminum, low-carbon steel, and stainless steel where stringy chips would otherwise pack and damage the tap or workpiece. The 2B class of fit produces a standard commercial thread tolerance appropriate for general fastener assembly. The bright, uncoated finish is suitable for use with cutting oil or water-soluble coolant in both hand and machine tapping setups.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use spiral flute tap for standard 7/16-14 UNC tapping applications in manual tap handles, tapping heads, and CNC rigid-tapping spindles accepting an 8.20 mm shank diameter.
This tap should be installed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the tap is properly aligned with the pre-drilled pilot hole before beginning the cut. Always apply an appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to reduce heat and extend tool life. For machine tapping, verify spindle speed and feed rate are set for the material and tap diameter before engaging the cut.
