The ACCUPRO T2634302B is a spiral flute tap designed to cut internal threads in 8-36 unified fine thread applications. Built from 3% vanadium high speed steel, it delivers improved wear resistance and edge retention compared to standard M2 HSS taps. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading close to the bottom of a blind hole. With a 33-degree helix angle and medium flute style, this tap efficiently evacuates chips upward out of the hole, reducing the risk of chip packing. Overall length is 2.125 inches. It is sized for use in manual tapping, CNC machining centers, or drill press setups where a right-hand thread is required.
This tap is suited for threading small-diameter blind holes in production and repair machining environments. The 8-36 thread form is common in precision instrument work, electronics hardware, and light mechanical assemblies. The bright uncoated finish makes it appropriate for a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials where coating interaction is a concern. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die technicians are the primary installers, though skilled maintenance machinists will find it equally at home in a job shop or field repair context.
Designed as a direct replacement or standard 8-36 spiral flute tap for use in CNC tapping cycles, drill press tapping attachments, or hand-tapping applications requiring a 2B class of fit right-hand thread.
A licensed machinist or qualified tool operator should set appropriate spindle speed and feed rate for the workpiece material before engaging the tap. Always apply a suitable cutting fluid or tapping oil to reduce friction and extend tool life. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the tap is properly aligned to the pilot hole to prevent tap breakage. Power down or disengage the spindle completely before manually clearing chips or changing tooling.
