The ACCUPRO T1640244 is a spiral point plug tap designed for threading 6-32 UNC holes in metal workpieces. Built from HSS-E vanadium high speed steel with an oxide finish, it resists heat and wear during tapping operations. The spiral point geometry pushes chips forward ahead of the cutting edge, making it well-suited for through-hole applications. With 3 flutes, a plug chamfer, and a right-hand thread direction, this tap produces clean, accurate threads in a single pass. Overall length is 2 inches, thread length is 0.511 inches, and shank diameter is 0.141 inches.
This tap is used in machining and fabrication environments where 6-32 UNC internal threads are required. It is appropriate for through-hole tapping in ferrous metals, aluminum, and similar materials on drill presses, CNC machining centers, or manual tapping machines. The plug chamfer style with a 4-thread lead makes it a common choice for production threading where hole entry is pre-drilled and thread engagement depth is consistent.
