The ACCUPRO T1620722B is a spiral point tap designed for cutting 3/4-16 UNF internal threads in stainless steel and similarly demanding materials. Manufactured from 3% Vanadium High Speed Steel, it provides increased wear resistance and edge retention compared to standard HSS tooling. The plug chamfer style makes this tap suited for through-hole threading applications where the tap can run past the bottom of the hole. An oxide finish reduces friction and helps resist corrosion during use and storage. At 4.25 inches overall length with a 37 mm thread length, this tap fits standard tapping adapters and holders used in production and maintenance machining environments. It is installed by machinists and toolroom professionals.
This tap is intended for threading stainless steel workpieces in both production shop and maintenance machining environments. The 4-flute spiral point geometry pushes chips ahead of the cutting edge, keeping the flutes clear during through-hole tapping operations. The 2B class of fit produces threads conforming to standard UNF tolerance requirements, making it appropriate for fastener assemblies where controlled fit is required. It is suitable for use in manual tapping operations as well as CNC tapping cycles where rigid or floating tap holders are used.
Designed for through-hole tapping of stainless steel using the 3/4-16 UNF thread form. Fits standard tapping chucks, holders, and spindles sized for the 14.99 mm shank diameter.
This tap should be installed by a qualified machinist in a rigid or floating tap holder appropriate for the shank diameter. Always ensure the workpiece and machine spindle are properly secured before beginning the tapping cycle. Use a cutting fluid or tapping compound rated for stainless steel to reduce heat buildup and extend tool life. Inspect the tap for chipping or wear before each use and replace if cutting edges are degraded.
