The ACCUPRO T1620322B is a spiral point tap designed for cutting 10-24 unified coarse threads in through-hole applications. Built from 3% vanadium high speed steel with an oxide finish, it delivers durability and chip-clearing performance in demanding materials. The spiral point geometry pushes chips ahead of the cutting edge, keeping the flutes clear during production tapping. With a plug chamfer and 2B class of fit, this tap is suited for standard tolerance threading in both manual and machine tapping operations. It has 3 flutes and is intended for right-hand thread cutting without coolant-through capability.
This tap is rated for use in stainless steel, making it a practical choice for maintenance, fabrication, and production work where thread quality and tap life matter. The 10-24 size covers common fastener applications in HVAC equipment panels, electrical enclosures, plumbing hardware, and general sheet metal and light structural work. It is used by machinists, maintenance mechanics, and trade professionals tapping blind or through holes in corrosion-resistant and harder ferrous materials. The overall length of 2.375 inches and 16 mm thread length suit standard machine and hand tap holders.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use spiral point tap for standard 10-24 unified coarse thread applications in compatible machine tap holders and hand tap wrenches accepting a 4.93 mm shank diameter.
Installation of this tap is typically performed by a machinist or qualified maintenance mechanic using a tapping machine, drill press, or hand tap wrench. Always use an appropriate cutting fluid for the material being tapped, particularly when working in stainless steel, to extend tap life and improve thread finish. Secure the workpiece firmly before tapping and ensure the tap enters the hole square to avoid tap breakage. Follow applicable shop safety practices when handling cutting tools.
