The ACCUPRO T1614426 is a spiral flute tap designed for cutting M10 x 1.50 metric threads in blind holes and through-hole applications requiring a modified bottoming chamfer. Manufactured from 3% Vanadium High Speed Steel with an oxide finish, this tap offers improved wear resistance and lubricity compared to standard HSS. It carries a 6H class of fit and a D6 thread limit, making it suitable for general-purpose metric threading where close tolerances are required. With a 40-degree helix angle and fast flute style, the tap efficiently evacuates chips upward out of the hole, a critical advantage when working in stainless steel and other tough materials.
This tap is primarily used in machining environments where stainless steel and similarly difficult-to-machine materials must be tapped cleanly without chip packing. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading closer to the bottom of a blind hole than a standard taper or plug tap, making it well suited for tight-tolerance mechanical assemblies. It is installed and operated by machinists, toolmakers, and CNC operators using tapping machines, CNC machining centers, or hand-tapping equipment. Coolant-through capability is not provided, so appropriate surface cutting fluid should be applied during use.
Designed for cutting M10 x 1.50 metric threads in stainless steel and similar hard or work-hardening materials. Suitable for use with standard M10 tapping collets and holders sized for a 9.68 mm shank diameter.
This tap should be installed in a properly sized collet or tap holder that accommodates a 9.68 mm shank diameter. Always apply a cutting fluid rated for the workpiece material, particularly when tapping stainless steel, to reduce heat buildup and prevent tool breakage. Ensure the tap is aligned perpendicular to the workpiece surface before beginning the tapping cycle. Inspect the tap for wear or chipping before each use and replace if thread quality degrades.
