The ACCUPRO QCK-1 CAT-40 is a rigid tapping chuck designed for CNC machining centers with CAT40 taper spindle interfaces. It handles tap sizes from M3 to M12 (up to 9/16 inch) and features a 3.445-inch projection from spindle face to nose, making it suitable for reaching into recessed features or deep-set bosses. Built for rigid tapping cycles, this chuck transfers torque and axial motion directly to the tap without a floating or tension-compression mechanism. Through-coolant capability delivers cutting fluid directly to the tap, extending tool life and improving chip evacuation in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Machinists and CNC setup technicians install this chuck as part of a production tapping solution where synchronization between spindle feed and rotation is maintained by the machine control.
This tapping chuck is intended for use on CAT40-spindle vertical and horizontal machining centers performing rigid tapping operations. The Size 1 tap adapter interface accepts a range of collets or adapters to cover the M3 through M12 tap capacity. It fits production environments in job shops, aerospace, automotive, and general manufacturing where repeatable, accurate thread formation is required. The quick-change feature enables fast adapter swaps between tap sizes without removing the body from the spindle, reducing changeover time during multi-tap operations.
Designed for use on CNC machining centers with a CAT40 spindle taper interface. Accepts Size 1 tap adapters to cover the stated M3 to M12 tap capacity range.
Installation is performed by a CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down or e-stop the machine and verify spindle is fully stopped before inserting or removing the chuck from the spindle. Seat the CAT40 taper fully and torque the retention knob or drawbar to the machining center manufacturer specification before running. When using through-coolant, confirm the machine coolant system and spindle drawbar are configured for through-spindle coolant flow before enabling the feature.
