The ACCUPRO MB040100 is a solid carbide boring bar engineered for tight-tolerance internal boring operations on small-diameter features. Built from submicron-grade solid carbide with a bright finish, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed when cutting in confined bores. The bar has a minimum bore diameter of 0.04 inches and a maximum bore depth of 0.1 inches, making it suited for precision micro-boring work. The 1/8-inch shank diameter keeps the tool compact, and the 1-1/2-inch overall length fits standard small-bore toolholding setups. Machinists and tool-and-die shops working on precision components install this bar where dimensional accuracy in small bores is critical.
This boring bar is used in CNC turning centers, manual lathes, and mill-turn machines where very small internal diameters must be finished to close tolerances. Its right-hand cutting direction suits standard right-hand boring configurations. The submicron carbide substrate resists micro-chipping and holds a sharp edge longer than standard carbide grades, which is an advantage when boring hardened or abrasive workpiece materials. Typical applications include instrument components, hydraulic valve bodies, and any small-diameter bore requiring a controlled surface finish.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for tool clamping and overhang. Secure the shank firmly in the toolholder to minimize overhang and reduce vibration, which is critical at small bore diameters. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all axes are at a safe home position before changing or adjusting tooling. Do not exceed the maximum bore depth rating, as doing so can cause tool deflection and bore geometry errors.
