The ACCUPRO HX01340400MSC is a keyed drill chuck designed for CNC machining centers and milling applications requiring a secure, repeatable tool hold. Featuring a CAT40 integral shank mount and a capacity range of 1/32 inch to 1/2 inch (0.0313 to 0.5000 decimal inch), this chuck accepts a wide range of twist drills, reamers, and straight-shank tooling. The taper shank design and plain bearing construction provide rigid support at spindle speeds up to 8000 RPM. Total Indicator Runout (TIR) is rated at 0.0012 inches, supporting accurate hole placement and consistent tool life. The 54 mm sleeve diameter and steel chuck body are built for production-environment demands. Weight is 4.75 pounds.
This chuck is suited for use on CAT40-spindle vertical and horizontal machining centers in job shops, production facilities, and tool rooms. It is appropriate for drilling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a keyed chuck is preferred over a keyless design for positive grip under heavy feed rates. The Hex 1/4 key engagement allows the operator to firmly tighten the chuck jaws before each operation, reducing the risk of tool pull-out during interrupted or high-feed drilling cycles. Closed length is 116 mm and open length is 107 mm, which affects gauge-line reach and tool length offsets during setup.
Designed for use with CAT40-spindle machining centers. Accepts straight-shank tooling from 1/32 inch to 1/2 inch in diameter. Verify gauge-line reach and tool length offset requirements against your machine configuration before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machining center before mounting or removing the chuck from the spindle. Ensure the CAT40 taper and spindle bore are clean and free of chips or burrs before seating the chuck. Torque the drawbar to the machine manufacturer specification and confirm TIR with a test indicator before beginning production cuts.
