The ACCUPRO B160600A is a solid carbide boring bar designed for precision internal boring operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Built from submicron-grade carbide and coated with AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride), it delivers superior hardness and heat resistance at the cutting edge. The right-hand cutting direction suits standard spindle configurations. With a 0.16-inch minimum bore diameter and 0.6-inch maximum bore depth, this bar handles tight, shallow bores where rigidity and dimensional accuracy are critical. The 3/16-inch shank diameter keeps the tool compact, and the 2-inch overall length fits common toolpost and boring head setups used in precision machining environments.
This boring bar is suited for short-run and production boring in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where tight tolerances are required. The AlTiN coating extends tool life when cutting hardened steels, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys at elevated speeds. Typical applications include finish boring of hydraulic valve bodies, bearing bores, and precision-fit housings in aerospace, automotive, and general machining shops. Machinists running small-diameter internal work will find the 0.16-inch minimum bore capability useful for parts that cannot accommodate larger tooling.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-specification boring bar for CNC and manual lathes equipped with toolpost or boring head holders accepting a 3/16-inch shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolroom practices. Secure the shank in a properly sized boring head or toolpost holder, ensuring minimal overhang to reduce chatter and deflection. Confirm the cutting edge is set on centerline before taking a finishing pass. Power down and lock out the spindle before changing or adjusting tooling.
