The ACCUPRO B140400A is a solid carbide boring bar designed for precision internal boring operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from submicron-grade carbide and coated with AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) for heat and wear resistance, this bar handles tight-tolerance bore work in hardened steels, stainless alloys, and cast iron. It features a right-hand cut geometry with a 3/16 inch shank diameter and a 2 inch overall length. The 0.14 inch minimum bore diameter and 0.4 inch maximum bore depth make it suited for small, shallow bores where rigidity and edge integrity are critical. Machinists and toolroom technicians reach for this bar when finish quality and dimensional accuracy in confined bore diameters are the priority.
This boring bar is used in production and job-shop turning environments for finishing and semi-finishing small-diameter internal bores. Typical applications include bore sizing on hydraulic valve bodies, small housings, bushings, and precision fixtures. The AlTiN coating extends tool life at elevated cutting speeds and elevated temperatures, making it effective in dry and near-dry machining setups. The right-hand cut orientation is standard for conventional OD-turning toolpost setups on most manual and CNC lathes.
Designed for use in toolholders and boring bar blocks that accept a 3/16 inch shank diameter. Suitable for CNC and manual lathes configured for right-hand cut internal tooling.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Secure the shank fully within the toolholder to the manufacturer-recommended engagement depth before beginning any cuts. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the lathe is powered down before changing or setting tooling. Verify bore alignment and runout before taking finishing passes to avoid bell-mouthing or taper in the finished bore.
