The ACCUPRO ACC-RC281040 is a single-point tool bit designed for cut-off and grooving operations on lathes and turning centers. Built with a solid carbide tip brazed to a steel shank, this bit delivers consistent edge retention and dimensional accuracy in production and job-shop environments. The shank measures 9/32 inches wide by 9/32 inches tall, and the overall length is 6 inches. The tip thickness and tip width are each 0.040 inches, making this tool well suited for narrow parting cuts and precision grooving applications. Machinists and tool and die professionals are the primary installers and users of this tooling.
This tool bit fits RC-style tool holders and is oriented for right-hand cutting. It is appropriate for use in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where a solid carbide tip provides the hardness and heat resistance needed for demanding cut-off and grooving work. Typical applications include CNC and manual lathe operations in production machining, maintenance shops, and toolroom environments where precise parting and grooving cuts are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fit for RC-style single-point tool holders accepting a 9/32 inch shank. Industry Standard Number RC-281040 applies to this tool bit.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the lathe powered down before changing or seating tool bits. The tool bit should be secured firmly in the tool holder with appropriate set screws before resuming operation. Inspect the carbide tip for chipping or wear before each use and replace if the cutting edge is compromised.
