The ACCUPRO ACC-RAL9 is a left-hand, concave radius cutting tool bit designed for precision radius turning and form cutting on manual and CNC lathes. Built in the RAL style, it accepts a 1/2 inch square shank and features a carbide tip measuring 1/2 inch in length and 1/8 inch in thickness. The 9/32 inch concave radius profile allows machinists to cut consistent curved profiles on a wide range of workpiece materials. At 3.5 inches in overall length, the bit provides solid reach while maintaining rigidity in the tool holder. Carbide construction delivers wear resistance and extended service life compared to high-speed steel alternatives. This tool is typically installed by machinists and toolroom professionals working in job shop, maintenance, or production environments.
The ACC-RAL9 suits applications where a repeatable concave radius form must be machined into a part in a single pass. Common use cases include turning grooves, radii on shafts, and decorative or functional profiles on ferrous and non-ferrous stock. The left-hand orientation positions the cutting action for specific toolpost setups where a right-hand bit would interfere with the workpiece, chuck, or tailstock. It is sold individually and is appropriate for both conventional engine lathes and CNC turning centers configured for left-hand tooling.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit cutting tool for lathes and turning centers that accept 1/2 inch square shank tool bits in a left-hand RAL style holder.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the lathe spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before seating or adjusting the tool bit in the holder. Set tool height to centerline of the workpiece using a height gauge or reference block before beginning a cut. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material and carbide grade in use.
