The ACCUPRO ACC-G038-4 is a solid carbide retaining ring grooving tool designed for internal grooving operations in machined bores. Built from submicron-grade solid carbide, this tool produces precise retaining ring grooves with a 0.0385-inch groove width. The 5/16-inch shank diameter provides rigid tool holding in standard collet chucks and end mill holders. It is used by machinists and toolmakers working in production or repair environments where accurate internal groove placement is critical to assembly fit and function.
This grooving tool is suited for cutting retaining ring grooves in bores with a minimum hole diameter of 0.312 inches. The tool projection of 0.110 inches allows it to reach groove locations at depths up to 0.250 inches from the bore entry. Overall tool length is 2.5 inches. It is appropriate for use in CNC machining centers, manual mills, and lathes where internal grooving of small-diameter bores is required in precision parts manufacturing or maintenance machining.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists. Secure the 5/16-inch shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder and verify tool runout before cutting. Always confirm workpiece is securely clamped and spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and carbide tooling before engaging the cut. Inspect the cutting edge for chips or wear before each use, as carbide tools can fail suddenly if run while damaged.
