The ACCUPRO ACC-G017K-10 is a solid carbide retaining ring grooving tool designed for internal groove cutting in precision machining applications. Built from submicron-grade solid carbide, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed for clean, accurate retaining ring grooves in small-bore work. The shank measures 3/16 inches in diameter and the tool runs 2.0 inches in overall length. With a 0.0175-inch groove width and a 0.0500-inch projection, it is sized for tight-tolerance internal grooving where chip clearance and concentricity matter. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this style of grooving tool on CNC lathes and manual turning equipment.
This tool is suited for internal retaining ring groove applications requiring a minimum hole diameter of 0.1870 inches. Maximum hole depth reaches 0.6250 inches (5/8 inch), making it appropriate for shallow to mid-depth bores in ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. It is commonly specified in production and job-shop environments where snap-ring groove geometry must meet close dimensional tolerances. The compact shank diameter and submicron carbide grade make it a practical choice for small-bore grooving on Swiss-type, gang-tool, and conventional CNC turning centers.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use internal grooving tool for CNC lathes and turning centers equipped with 3/16-inch shank toolholders accepting solid carbide grooving inserts or solid-form grooving tools.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer's toolholder torque and runout specifications. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the control is in E-stop or tool-change mode before mounting or removing the tool. Verify shank seating depth and runout with a dial indicator before taking the first cut. Do not exceed the stated maximum hole depth or projection limits, as overextension increases deflection and risk of tool breakage.
