The ACCUPRO ACC-BB140700G is a micrograin solid carbide boring bar designed for precision internal boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. With a minimum bore diameter of 0.14 inches and a maximum bore depth of 0.7 inches, it handles tight-tolerance small-bore work where rigidity and cutting-edge integrity are critical. The 3/16-inch shank diameter and 2-inch overall length make this a compact tool suited for light-duty internal turning. A titanium nitride (TiN) finish coating increases surface hardness and reduces friction at the cutting edge, extending tool life in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary users of this type of tooling.
This boring bar is used in production and job-shop machining environments where small internal diameters require accurate sizing beyond what a standard drill can achieve. The right-hand cutting direction suits the conventional spindle rotation used on most lathes and machining centers. Typical applications include finish-boring bearing bores, bushing seats, and precision holes in small workpieces. The micrograin carbide substrate supports higher cutting speeds and finer surface finishes compared to standard carbide grades, making it appropriate for close-tolerance work in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials.
Designed as a standard-shank replacement or supplemental boring bar for use with 3/16-inch boring bar holders on CNC lathes, manual lathes, and machining centers capable of accommodating the 0.14-inch minimum bore diameter requirement.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Secure the shank firmly in a compatible boring bar holder, ensuring adequate overhang is minimized to reduce chatter and deflection. Confirm spindle rotation direction matches the right-hand cutting geometry before engaging the workpiece. Handle carbide tooling carefully to avoid chipping the cutting edge during setup and storage.
