The ACCUPRO A-6140290R is a solid carbide spotting drill designed to create accurate starter holes for follow-on drilling operations in metalworking and machining applications. Built with a 120-degree point angle, the tool seats cleanly against standard twist drill geometry, reducing walkout and improving hole-location accuracy. The 2.9 mm cutting diameter and 38 mm overall length make it well-suited for compact setups on CNC machining centers and manual drill presses alike. A bright, uncoated finish allows the cutter to run effectively in a wide range of general-purpose materials without specialized coolant requirements. Machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary users of this tool.
This spotting drill is used in general-purpose production and job-shop environments where precise hole positioning is critical before full-depth drilling. The 7.5 mm flute length provides adequate chip clearance for the shallow engagement depth typical of spotting operations. The straight cylindrical shank with a 3 mm diameter seats securely in standard collet chucks and drill chucks on CNC mills, machining centers, and benchtop drill presses. It is suited for single-ended use in right-hand cutting applications across ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials.
Designed as a general-purpose spotting drill for use in standard collet chucks and drill chucks accepting a 3 mm straight cylindrical shank on CNC machining centers and manual drill presses.
Installation and operation of this tool should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or quill is in a safe position before mounting or removing the drill. Confirm the collet or chuck is rated for the 3 mm shank diameter and is properly torqued per the machine manufacturer specifications. Inspect the cutting edge for chips or wear before each use, as solid carbide tooling is brittle and should not be used if edge damage is visible.
