The ACCUPRO A-6140220R is a solid carbide spotting drill designed to create accurate, centered starter holes for follow-on drilling operations. Built with a 120-degree drill point angle and a 2-flute spiral flute configuration, it establishes precise hole locations and reduces drill wander during subsequent operations. The cutting diameter is 2.2mm (0.0866 inches), the overall length is 38mm (1.4961 inches), and the flute length is 6.5mm (0.2559 inches). The bright/uncoated finish makes it a straightforward general-purpose option for machinists and toolmakers working in production and job-shop environments.
This spotting drill is intended for general-purpose spotting applications across a range of metalworking operations. It suits CNC machining centers, manual mills, and drill presses where accurate hole placement is required before drilling, countersinking, or tapping. The single-ended, straight-cylindrical shank with a 3mm (0.1181-inch) diameter allows direct clamping in standard collet chucks and drill chucks. It is well suited for light-duty work in aluminum, mild steel, brass, and similar machinable materials where a pilot center is needed.
Designed as a general-purpose spotting drill compatible with standard 3mm straight-cylindrical shank toolholding systems including ER collet chucks and keyless drill chucks used on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with cutting tool setup and CNC or manual machine operation. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before loading or removing the tool from the holder. Confirm collet or chuck runout is within acceptable limits before spotting, as excessive runout will defeat the accuracy purpose of the spotting operation. Follow machine manufacturer feed and speed recommendations for solid carbide tooling at this diameter.
