The ACCUPRO 77712974 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. Built from solid carbide with an AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) coating, this bit delivers extended tool life and heat resistance at elevated cutting speeds. The 140-degree split point and web-thinned geometry reduce thrust force and improve centering accuracy without a pilot hole. At 0.1562 inches (5/32 inch) in diameter with a straight-cylindrical shank, it is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and automated production environments operated by machinists and tool-room technicians.
This drill bit is intended for use in alloy steel, cast iron, and stainless steel workpieces. The screw machine length body — shorter than jobber length — provides added rigidity in tight setups and short-reach drilling fixtures. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports a maximum drilling depth of 0.469 inches. Coolant-through capability makes it compatible with through-spindle coolant delivery systems, improving chip evacuation and heat control in deep-hole or high-cycle production runs.
Designed for use in alloy steel, cast iron, and stainless steel workpieces. Compatible with straight-shank toolholders and collet chucks accepting a 4.00 mm (approximately 0.157 inch) shank diameter. Suitable for CNC machining centers and drill presses equipped with through-spindle coolant systems.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power isolated. Secure the straight-cylindrical shank fully within the collet or toolholder to the recommended grip depth before torquing the holder. Verify coolant line pressure and flow rate are within the machine and tooling specifications before initiating a through-coolant cycle. Do not use this bit in materials outside its rated workpiece material range, as doing so will accelerate premature wear or chipping.
