The ACCUPRO 775514 is an NMTB40 taper shank shell mill holder designed for milling operations requiring through-spindle coolant delivery. It accepts shell mills in the 4 to 5 inch cutting diameter range and features a 1-1/2 inch pilot diameter for secure tool registration. The 3/4-16 lock screw thread secures the shell mill firmly during heavy-duty face milling and surfacing operations. With a TIR of 0.0002 inches, this holder maintains the tight runout tolerance required for quality surface finishes in production machining environments. Machinists and tooling technicians working on CNC vertical or horizontal machining centers are the primary users of this holder.
This shell mill holder is suited for use on machining centers equipped with NMTB40 spindle tapers. It is commonly installed in job shops and production facilities running face mills, indexable shell mills, and similar large-diameter cutters for aluminum, steel, and cast iron applications. The through-spindle coolant feature makes it well suited for applications where flood coolant delivery to the cutting zone is required for chip evacuation and tool life. The 1.63 inch projection from flange to nose end provides standard reach geometry for typical setup configurations.
Designed as an OEM-style shell mill holder for machining centers with NMTB40 taper spindles, accepting shell mills with a 1-1/2 inch pilot and cutting diameters from 4 to 5 inches.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Verify that the spindle taper and holder taper are clean and free of chips or debris before seating the holder. Torque the lock screw using the appropriate spanner wrench per the shell mill manufacturer's retention guidelines. Confirm runout at the pilot with a dial test indicator before beginning production cuts.
