The ACCUPRO 771240 is a CAT50 shell mill holder with a dual contact taper shank, designed for high-rigidity milling applications on CNC machining centers. The dual contact interface engages both the taper and the spindle face simultaneously, improving repeatability and reducing runout. Total indicator runout (TIR) is rated at 0.0002 inches, and the holder is balanced to 10,000 RPM. Overall length is 6 inches, with a 2-inch pilot diameter and a 2-inch projection from flange to nose end. Through-coolant capability is supported via both the spindle and DIN flange coolant paths. This holder is installed by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians in production and job-shop environments.
The 771240 is suited for face milling and shell milling operations on vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers equipped with a CAT50 spindle. The pilot accepts shell mill cutters in the 5-1/2 to 6 inch cutting diameter range. The 2-inch flange-to-nose projection keeps the cutter close to the spindle face for improved rigidity on heavy-stock-removal cuts. Lock screw thread size is 1-14. This holder is a fit for shops running large-diameter face mills on production machining centers where spindle contact rigidity and coolant delivery are priorities.
Designed for use with CAT50 spindle machines and shell mill cutters in the 5-1/2 to 6 inch cutting diameter range. Compatible with through-spindle and DIN flange coolant delivery systems.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped before mounting or removing the holder. Use a calibrated torque wrench and the appropriate 1-14 lock screw to secure the shell mill cutter; do not exceed the cutter or holder manufacturer torque guidance. Verify TIR with a dial indicator after installation before resuming cutting operations. Follow the machining center OEM guidelines for dual contact tooling handling and storage to protect the taper and flange contact surfaces.
