The ACCUPRO 771206 is a CAT40 dual contact taper shank shell mill holder designed for use on CNC machining centers requiring rigid, high-accuracy tool mounting. The holder features a 1.5-inch pilot diameter, an overall length of 6.687 inches, and a flange-to-nose projection of 4 inches. Dual contact engagement at both the taper and flange face reduces runout and improves rigidity compared to standard single-contact CAT40 holders. Through-spindle and DIN flange coolant delivery are both supported. Total indicator runout (TIR) is rated at 0.0002 inches. Installed by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians, this holder suits applications demanding precision face milling.
The 771206 is suited for production and job-shop environments running face mills, indexable shell mills, and similar arbor-mounted cutters on CAT40-spindle vertical or horizontal machining centers. The holder accommodates shell mill cutting diameters in the 4-inch to 5-inch range. Dual contact geometry makes it appropriate for high-speed applications balanced to 10,000 RPM. The through-spindle coolant path supports wet cutting and chip evacuation at the cutting zone, making this holder practical for steel, cast iron, and aluminum face milling operations.
Designed as an OEM-style shell mill holder for CAT40-spindle machining centers accepting dual contact taper tooling with a 1.5-inch pilot and shell mills in the 4-inch to 5-inch cutting diameter range.
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician with the machine in a locked-out, tagged-out state per applicable safety procedures. Use a torque wrench and draw bar appropriate for CAT40 tooling when securing the holder in the spindle. Verify coolant port alignment before activating through-spindle coolant flow. Confirm runout with a dial test indicator after mounting to ensure TIR is within acceptable limits for the application.
