The ACCUPRO 75548438 is a CNMG-style indexable turning insert designed for general and high-performance turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from carbide substrate with a CVD coating, it carries manufacturer grade ACP35M and is engineered to deliver high wear resistance through a range of steel, stainless steel, and special alloy workpieces. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a 0.0315 inch (0.80 mm) corner radius. With four cutting edges per insert and a negative side clearance geometry, it offers extended tool life and cost-effective indexing for production turning environments.
This insert is suited for medium to heavy turning passes on P, M, and S material groups — covering carbon and alloy steels, stainless steels, and heat-resistant super alloys. Typical applications include outside diameter turning, facing, and light profiling where controlled chip formation and edge stability are priorities. The chip breaker designation 909+ supports a broad range of cutting conditions across these material classes. It is installed and used by machining professionals in job shops, production facilities, and aerospace or energy component manufacturing.
Designed to seat in standard CNMG toolholders that accept CNMG542 (ANSI) or CNMG160608 (ISO) inserts with negative geometry pockets. Compatible holding methods include clamp, lever lock, pin, and screw styles. Verify toolholder pocket tolerance and insert holding method before installation.
Indexable turning inserts are installed and indexed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is stopped and all motion is locked out before accessing the turret or tool post. Seat the insert fully into the pocket and torque the clamping screw or lever according to the toolholder manufacturer specification — do not estimate clamp force by feel alone. Inspect the cutting edge and chip breaker for chipping or wear at each index before returning the machine to service.
