The ACCUPRO 75474940 is a CCMT-style indexable turning insert designed for precision metal cutting on CNC and manual lathes. Built from CVD-coated carbide in grade ACM20P, it delivers high wear resistance with moderate toughness - a balanced profile suited for both steel and stainless steel applications. The insert carries an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a 7-degree relief angle and a 0.40 mm (0.0157 inch) corner radius, making it a strong choice for finishing and semi-finishing passes where dimensional control matters. It is installed and replaced by machinists and CNC operators as a standard consumable tooling component.
This insert is intended for turning operations on steel (P) and stainless steel (M) workpiece materials where high to moderate wear resistance is the priority. The WM+ chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation during continuous and semi-interrupted cuts. With a maximum depth of cut of 3.00 mm (0.1181 inch) and a positive side clearance, it performs well in finishing-range material removal on both manual and CNC turning centers. The screw-holding method provides secure clamping in compatible CCMT toolholders.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for CCMT09T304 (ISO) and CCMT32.51 (ANSI) style toolholders using screw-clamp insert retention. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert seat dimensions before installation.
Installation is performed by machinists using the appropriate torx or hex key for the clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and will crack under excess clamping force. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the toolholder pocket and locating pin for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Follow shop safety procedures and applicable OSHA machine guarding requirements during all tooling changes.
