The ACCUPRO 72028913 is a single-end, solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for high-performance machining in demanding materials. It carries a 0.5-inch mill diameter, six flutes, and a 1.25-inch length of cut, making it well-suited for aggressive material removal with a refined edge finish. The AlTiN+ coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in high-heat cutting environments. With a variable helix and variable index geometry, this end mill reduces harmonic vibration and chatter during deep cuts. It is center-cutting, allowing plunge entry, and runs in a right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in aerospace, defense, and high-temp alloy fabrication are the primary users.
This end mill is rated for primary use in high-temp alloys, including nickel-based superalloys and titanium-class materials, where heat generation and tool wear are primary concerns. The 0.120-inch corner radius (3.05 mm) reduces stress concentration at the cutting edge, extending tool life in interrupted cuts and full-slot operations. The 3.0-inch overall length and 0.5-inch shank diameter allow it to seat securely in standard collet chucks, end mill holders, and shrink-fit toolholders on vertical and horizontal machining centers running ISO or ANSI toolpaths.
Designed for use in high-temp alloy machining applications (material code S), including nickel superalloys and titanium. Fits standard 0.5-inch collet chucks, hydraulic holders, and shrink-fit toolholders. Part of the ACCUPRO HS series.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out state per applicable shop safety and OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the 0.5-inch shank fully into the toolholder and verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Use cutting fluid or high-pressure coolant appropriate for high-temp alloy operations to manage heat at the cutting zone. Inspect the corner radius edge for chipping before each setup, as carbide tools in high-temp alloys can exhibit micro-fracture without visible wear on the flute face.
