The ACCUPRO 72020860 is a single-end, solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding materials. Built to a 0.5000 inch diameter with six flutes, it delivers a 1 inch length of cut and carries an AlTiN+ coating engineered for heat and oxidation resistance in high-temp alloy applications. The variable helix and variable index geometry reduce harmonic vibration and chatter, improving surface finish and tool life in difficult cuts. At 3 inches overall length, it fits standard toolholders used in CNC machining centers. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in aerospace, energy, and industrial manufacturing environments.
This end mill is optimized for cutting high-temperature alloys, including nickel-based superalloys and similar difficult-to-machine materials classified under material code S. The 0.0300 inch corner radius protects the cutting edge from chipping at the corner while maintaining tight dimensional control. The centercutting design allows plunge entry. Right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction are standard for conventional CNC spindle setups. The HS series designation places this tool in a high-performance family intended for aggressive material removal rates in production environments.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide end mill for use in CNC machining centers with standard 1/2 inch diameter toolholding systems. Primary workpiece material is high-temp alloy (material code S).
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before tool changes. Secure the shank in a compatible 1/2 inch collet, end mill holder, or shrink-fit holder torqued to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before production cuts, as excessive runout accelerates wear and degrades surface finish on high-temp alloys.
